Yes, sir. Problem is, there’s still the view of marriage and family not just being necessary for yourself, but is still a social responsibility in its own right. And many people would still view Kyle as very irresponsible in that mindset.
On another note, I’ve always heard the defense of ‘traditional marriage’ as an excuse against marriage equality. I can’t help but think what would happen if people that used that argument would be serious about it and using it as a means to solve multiple issues. Some of the situations there would seem…disturbing by modern standards, but relatively normal by overall historical standards.
I’m not so sure of that… One can always choose to quit a bad marriage (minus social stigma); but people without a prospective partner can’t choose to quite being unmarried…
