Ownership
David is trying to take ownership of himself, so he puts his foot down when asking for help, especially from his parents. Of course, he has more than one reason why he doesn’t want to involve them. The divorce proceedings didn’t help either.
For now, let’s just leave it as not wanting to get stuck owing any money or favors to anyone while he’s getting things under control.

I think you’re missing a “what” in panel 2, bubble 2.
The dialogue is well crafted in this one (though you need to correct an edit in panel 2) to reveal backstory without infodump effect. So well done in that. I also like the lineart style and the angles you use. Very unique, like a sitcom with dynamic cameras, so to speak. 🙂 Keep up the good work!
You know, you’re not the only one that’s saying there’s an edit needed, but I don’t see it.Kyle’s saying David’s part of the bills would be nothing for either of them to pay.
Ooh, nice way to reveal his background. I can already imagine the resentments he must have.
